With WebCracker hosted web forms you can use a
secure web form to collect and protect private
and confidential information from your web site.
A secure web form is appropriate for sensitive,
private information such as credit card details,
personal medical information, legal information,
etc. Even if the information you are collecting
is not especially sensitive, you may want to use
an encrypted web form just to give your users
confidence in your web site and your ability to
sensibly handle their personal information.
Information that is entered into a secure,
encrypted form on our site is protected. The
protection for the encrypted web form is
achieved by an Internet technology called SSL
(Secure Socket layers). If the user is browsing
with Internet Explorer they will see the padlock
icon appear, and that is there to indicate that
the communication channel is secured by SSL.
Other browsers have similar ways of showing the
user that the connection from the user's desktop
to the secure web form is safe.
Normally information and data sent via a web
form is sent in an email. However sending
information by standard email is a little like
sending a postcard by normal mail - the contents
could be read by anyone handling that postcard.
Encrypted email allows you to protect your
confidential email from casual prying when you
communicate with others. Encryption works by
taking your plain text message and scrambling
the output so that it is unintelligible to
someone who views it without decrypting it. To
read it, the recipient must decrypt the message
using a password (or key). Therefore protecting
your privacy and security in your
communications.
Secure Web Form to Encrypted Email
This package enables you to have a secure web
site with one or more "forms" which will
securely send the information collected to the
web server, by encrypting and
emailed to you. You can then access these
encrypted messages securely via programs like
Outlook or Thunderbird.
Please note in
Outlook Express and Windows Mail the message is
received as an attached .p7m file. You will need
p7mViewer software to open the attachment.
This system makes it very easy to collect
sensitive data in a way that is secure and that
protects your users.

Costs
The cost of setting up your secure form is
a £25 one off set up fee per form and a £25 p.a.
fee to cover the encryption certificate (one
certificate will cover more than one form ie
two different enquiry forms will cost £75 the
first year, then £25 p.a. thereafter (a one-off
set up fee of £50 for the forms, then £25 p.a.
for the certificate).
